Kids, Cops and Computers
My friend Deputy Chief Peter Sloly of the Toronto Police (@DeputySloly on Twitter) alerted me to Kids, Cops and Computers.
This program connects children with the biggest encyclopedia on earth: the Internet. Kids, Cops and Computers works together with school boards and principals who select children for this program. The program however, does far more than just give a computer and a printer to children. It connects children with law enforcement officers and it gives the children the unique opportunity to get to know the cops in their neighbourhood from a completely different standpoint. It builds long lasting relationships and gives children opportunities they would otherwise miss. Their objective is to grow the Kids, Cops & Computers program to schools in the thirteen identified “at-risk” communities in Toronto.

Thanks very much for promoting Kids, Cops & Computers. It is a program that makes a difference. A unique partnership between the police, school boards and corporations.
Right now we are working with schools to identify students to come on the program for 2010-2011 program year. The more money we have for computers, the more kids come on the program.
Your support is really appreciated!
You are very welcome! Please do let me know every now and then how things are going! Creating a better relationship between children and law enforcement is part of safeguarding the future and I am very pleased to see how much the Toronto Police does.
My best, Vidocq
