Slow movement in the Trey Noah case
The disappearance of Trey Noah, 20, was a mystery until April 2010 when his body was discovered beside Doebbler Road in eastern Gillespie County, Texas. One of the suspects, Shelby C. Moore of Kendalia, is Noah’s cousin. The other is Brandon L. Harber of Blanco, where both suspects and Noah attended high school.
Moore and Harber, both 19, were arrested in June 2010 based on an incriminating statement that authorities say Moore provided. Moore claimed that Harber and Noah argued at Moore’s home in Kendall County the night of Nov. 30, 2009 and that Harber shot Noah in the back using a rifle owned by Moore’s father, according to an affidavit by Gillespie County Deputy Brian Pehl.
“Moore told me that neither he nor Harber sought any medical care for Noah after the shooting,” and that the two used Moore’s pickup to dump the body, Pehl said in the sworn affidavit dated June 10, 2010. Besides the murder charge, prosecutor Steve Wadsworth said both suspects also were indicted on a charge of evidence tampering. Now held at the Gillespie County Jail, they are slated to be arraigned.
Harber’s attorney, Bernard Campion, said he’s confident his client is not guilty of any wrongdoing. “When the dust settles, I think the evidence will show that Mr. Moore killed his cousin,” he said. But Rudkin, Moore’s attorney, stood by Moore’s claims that Harber shot Noah. He declined comment when asked why Moore did not report the crime.
